If you are looking to buy wholesale clothing abroad weather it is made to order or ready-made wholesale there are a lot of question that you may be thinking about that can sometimes be difficult to find the answer.
Shipping Costs.
The first think to think about would be shipping cost. If you are buying small quantities ie under 50 pieces then the shipping will work out to be a bit more expensive per item but when you go into the larger quantities the shipping gets cheaper even when shipping with a carrier that only takes 5 days. The alternative when shipping lower quantities is to use a cheaper shipper but these can take a long time and can be unreliable depending on your country. Most shops online will have a shopping cart where you can find out the shipping. If not you can always email the seller and give them your country and number of items required and they should be able to give you an approximate shipping price.
Tax.
The next thing is the tax you may have to pay when the items enter your country. It’s important to know that the supplier cannot pay tax for the customer and is mostly the responsibility of the customer receiving the goods. Most European countries will need a c/o certificate (certificate of origin) for large orders this is a piece of paper saying where the clothes where their made and what material their made from. This will allow the garments to pass through customs with no problems and reduce the amount of tax that needs to be paid. U.S., Canada, Asia and Australia don’t need this. All that is needed is an invoice to go with the shipment.
Sizes.
Sizes are an important thing to look in to as well, don’t just look at the size that is on the item, look at the exact size in cm or inches. The reason for this is because sizes are different all over the world a size S in Asia could be different from a size S in Europe. You may even find in your local town that a size 12 in one shop is different from a size 12 in another. A way round this is to do some research on suppliers websites and find out the exact size of the garments.
Quality.
Quality can also be important, you may find that a garment looks fine online but when it arrives the stitching may not be so good. To avoid this you can always buy just one from the supplier which may cost more but may be worth it in the long run. Another way would be to find out as much information as possible about the garment by asking the seller about the type of material, find out the weight of the garment and compare it with something you already have and also ask if the siting is the correct colours for the garment.
Purchasing custom made to order garments.
These generally have a minimum order of around 50 units. The supplier will make you a custom sample, maybe from a picture or drawing. The supplier will then probably send you a sample. If you place an order the quality should be the same as the sample be sure to ask the supplier this before placing a large order.
Payment.
Some online stores have Paypal or some other form of payment system. This is good as it offers some sort of protection. If not you may have the option of paying by bank transfer or a money wiring payment system, this has no protection. The problem is that this is usually the norm in some Asian countries. If you have to pay by bank transfer do some research in the website, look at how big it is, how old it is and how popular it is. If the website is brand-new with one or two pages only then you should find more information before transferring the money. If you feel uncomfortable about paying by bank transfer ask the wholesale supplier if you can pay via Paypal.

The above points are just a few things to think about when purchasing wholesale clothing. If you follow these points it will make buy clothing in wholesale quantities easier and will avoid any mistakes. Remember you can always contact the wholesale supplier with any questions and most will give a quick response with a reasonable answer. |
